Couples Therapy

I help couples across California, Texas, and Florida create the kind of relationship they long for and move toward a deeper, more meaningful connection. My work is grounded in the Developmental Model of Couples Therapy, which understands relationship challenges as a natural part of growing together. This approach helps couples build healthier communication and develop the skills they need to navigate each stage of their relationship—both as an “I” and a “we”.

My focus is on understanding where you were, where you are feeling stuck, and where you hope to go. From there, I offer insight, compassion, hope, and practical guidance to help you move toward the relationship you envision or leave a relationship with clarity and care.

Whether you’re feeling trapped, discouraged, or worn down by conflict—or you share a loving bond but keep getting caught in the same painful patterns—there is a path forward. You don’t have to stay stuck in the same cycle.

The Process

I’m here to support you both in your self-development and couple development building a bridge back to one another from a solid foundation brick by brick. Together I will guide you in transforming your relationship from a source of pain and frustration to a sanctuary of understanding and empathy.

I commonly work with communication problems, loss of connection, bridging differences, managing strong feelings, angry hostile dynamics, passive-aggressive dynamics, conflict avoidance, withdrawal, passivity, infidelity, loss of sexual desire, sexual differences, and codependence.

I especially like working with couples because of the vast opportunity for personal growth and healing. I will help guide you in strengthening your ability to communicate directly and repair effectively, which will lead to a deepening of your connection, transforming how you perceive yourself and your partner.

The first step is scheduling an initial appointment with me and allowing 2-3 sessions before deciding if couples therapy is a good fit for you and your partner.

Experience

I know from personal experience that choosing to improve your relationship through couples therapy can sometimes feel terrifying. You are not alone as intimate relationships face challenges that other relationships do not and often need support to grow. I work to create an emotionally safe environment for both members of the couple so that you can increase your self-understanding while holding empathy for your partner’s experience.

I've undergone specialized advanced training in couples therapy and marriage counseling through the Couples Institute, led by globally respected couples therapists Ellyn Bader and Peter Pearson, creators of the Developmental Model of Couples Therapy. This innovative approach highlights the significance of growth within relationships. Drawing parallels between adult relationship development and childhood developmental stages, the model emphasizes three core pillars: differentiation, attachment theory, and neuroscience.

In addition to my extensive training, I actively participate in a bi-weekly couples consultation group led by expert couples therapist Sharon Thompson Wilson, LMFT. Sharon Thompson Wilson has over 50 years of experience helping couples and is a longstanding mentee of world-renowned couples therapist Esther Perel, further enhancing my expertise in the field.
